Finished Science Cake

Here is the finished Science cake. There were some VERY scary moments with it, but it all worked out great. Once again I learned a lot while working with it. The cake was Chocolate with Raspberry Cheesecake Mousse filling. Buttercream icing and Milk Chocolate Fondant. It looked and smelled YUMMY and I hope the Birthday boy was happy with his creation!

Second Display Cake

This is the display for the second Wilton course

Science Preview

Here is a preview of the science cake I am making this weekend. These little things will go on top of a cake that is made to look like a science text book. The up right bottle is molded/carved cake, the tube is rolled fondant, the "glass and goo" are made of sugar candy. The up right bottle is going to have bubbles coming out of it like the "potion" is bubbling over. Stay tuned for the full cake picture tomorrow.

Simply Beautiful with Flowers

Here is the wedding cake with the gumpaste flowers added to it. This cake was for a display case (the cake will most likely be in there for several years.) So that is the reason for the gumpaste flowers being white. With time the colored flowers would fade, but white will still be white in 5 years. Also, that is why this cake is only on a silver cake board...no need for a fancy cake plate if it is just a demo cake.

Simply Beautiful

Here is a very simple wedding cake option. Believe it or not simple cakes are harder to do (silly huh?) Anyway, I have about 50 Gumpaste roses drying in my kitchen right now...they will help this cake not look so naked. Pictures of the final cake tonight or tomorrow.

UP Cake

This morning my son was watching Disney's 'Up' as I was busy working on a wedding cake. While working on this wedding cake I was also thinking about cake pops (my new love.) Well the combination of these things clicked and I came up with my best cake idea yet. I am still working over the ideas and what will work but the main idea will be a cake carved like the house out of 'Up' and then balloon cake pops coming out of the chimney. So excited for this cake and can't wait to get all the pieces together so I can create it.
Also, the wedding cake is almost done...stay tuned for pictures.

Cupcakes Galore

This last week I did a cupcake demo/teaching/free for all, for our church group of women. It was a lot of fun to practice some cupcake ideas and it was a lot of fun to see what the other women came up with.
Also, there was another lady there demoing cake pops. I found a SUPER cute idea for elmo cake pops...my son LOVES elmo...I think I might have to make some this weekend :)
And on another note, Today my kitchen has turned into a wedding cake construction zone...so stay tuned for pictures of a (hopefully) beautiful wedding cake.
