Final Jungle Cake

Here are some pictures of the finished jungle cake. It turned out way good.
An up-close look at the lion with his buttercream main. Both cakes (it was for a first birthday party...the "smash cake" comes free with the big cake order.)
An up-close of the whole cake. I love the tree!

Keith was the one that was here when they picked up the cake order. I hope they were happy. Keith said they said they loved it. The reason I wasn't here is because I was at the AIM (Annual Instructor Meeting) for Wilton. I learned a lot and can't wait until these new products are out on the shelves!
Also I am thinking of doing a give away for my followers and those who share my blog link....I would make some of these jungle buddies to give away (They can be shipped after a few days of drying.) Stay tuned for that.

Jungle Pre-View

I had a jungle cake order for this last weekend. I got these gum paste pieces finished and then learned that the birthday boy was sick and the party was postponed. Luckily these pieces will last a while, so they will go on the cake once the party is rescheduled.
Here is a pre-view until the final cake is done.
Gumpaste monkey in the gumpaste tree.
The Lion will have a buttercream mane once he is placed on the cake.
I molded all of these little guys by hand. I am really pleased with how they turned out.

Hard to Please

The other day I was working on a new frosting recipe and I gave my oldest son a taste. I said "You are my food critic, how does it taste? Do I get 4 stars?" He looked at me and said "ummm, 1 star!" I made a big deal out of him saying one star and then he looked at me and reluctantly said "Okay Mama, 2 star." Talk about a tough food critic :)
Thinking hard about how many stars this frosting deserves!

Kenzie's Baptism Cake

Here is a special Baptism Cake. This was a chocolate cake with Raspberry Cheesecake Mousse (seems to be the favorite lately!) This feed 44 people and cost $55. It is 100% edible. It is white chocolate that is piped on the bottom tier, and all the decor is attached with white chocolate. (sorry for the night time picture quality!)
